CRC Participates in Criminal Justice Review Roundtable
04 26 2017
By invitation of the Federal Minister of Justice and Attorney General, CRC with CJI participated in a Criminal Justice Review Roundtable hosted by the federal government in the Executive Board Room of the John Cabot Building. This marked the first time in the history of the province that a federal minister was available in the province for a discussion with justice service providers about issues of concern in our justice system. The purpose of this event was to discuss alternatives to the mainstream criminal justice system including restorative justice as it relates specifically to the delivery of justice services. This was a major opportunity to advocate for restorative justice in Newfoundland & Labrador and it is satisfying to know that our message has reached the highest levels of power in our governments. The time for ACTION should soon be upon us.
